Flooding Continues in the Central U.S.; Critical Fire Weather in the Plains

From the Lower Mississippi into the Ohio Valley, widespread moderate to major river flooding is ongoing and will continue through at least late week. Cold temperatures, near or below freezing Wednesday morning will be felt across areas that were impacted by the recent multi-day storms. A long-period northeasterly swell will arrive tonight, gradually deteriorating marine and coastal conditions. The peak of the swell event is expected to be late tonight through tomorrow afternoon with large breaking waves between 9 to 13 feet, and occasionally higher. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for the Atlantic coastal and offshore waters and the Anegada Passage. Also, a High Surf Advisory was issued from 6 PM AST this afternoon through 6 PM AST Wednesday and a High Rip Current Risk remains in effect through late Wednesday night. Please, heed the advice of lifeguards, beach patrol flags and signs.
Una marejada del noreste de periodo largo llegará esta noche, deteriorando gradualmente las condiciones marítimas y costeras. El pico de la marejada se espera entre tarde esta noche hasta mañana en la tarde con olas rompientre entre 9 a 13 pies. Una Advertencia para pequeñas embarcaciones se encuentra en efecto para las aguas costeras y mar afuera del Atlántico y el Pasaje de Anegada. Una Advertencia de Resaca Fuerte está en efecto desde las 6 PM AST de esta tarde hasta mañana a las 6 PM AST. Un riesgo alto de corrientes marinas también se encuentra en efecto para las playas del norte de Puerto Rico, Culebra, y las Islas Vírgenes Estadounidenses hasta al menos tarde la noche del miércoles.
